Improve productivity, ensure the prevention of occupational risks, work efficiency and achieve added value to the product are some of the advantages of investing in Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&i). Going for it in difficult times can make an important lifeline. But the development of research lines within the company can make a strong economic boost to obtaining long-term results. This space to be filled in many companies is that every day develops R&D&i of the Technological Institute of Castilla y León (ITCL). The work of professionals can bring the benefits criteria and lines of work in R&D&i a large industrial corporations but also small and medium enterprises. Result, quality in the development of production processes and final product and therefore increase competitiveness increasingly necessary in a globalized world. The lines of work developed in this department ITCL diversify into six distinct areas.
This is one of the more developed lines of work where the center is a national reference ITCL. These aspects apply virtual reality and augmented reality the development of different aspects of industrial production from large industrial designs to truck driving. The big and small is likely to improve and thus to innovate.
These technologies also allow to know in advance the results of incorporating new production processes, systems or occupational risk prevention training aspects. The mission of this area is to investigate the applications of these technologies aimed at improving production processes, the Occupational Health and Safety, training ... for the benefit, especially SMEs.
In fact ITCL with the main laboratories for simulation and virtual reality application to production processes Spain. It is also a technology that could be applied to other disciplines such as less industrial heritage and museum management, a field that specializes in this working group. We are also working on the analysis of interactive manuals and recreational aspects as training in 3D educational game development, virtual fairs, exhibitions and marketing campaigns
Energy is needed and, therefore, a future business. Optimizing the cost of traditional energy sources and find alternatives is becoming, increasingly, a necessity. ITCL is aware of this and more than 20 years working on the development of lines of work focusing on the energy sector. In line with the R & D applied to develop renewable energy projects, with a long projection into the future given the demands from the European Union. But work in this area also happens to promote energy savings by optimizing costs. To do this from this department are designed energy management systems in all types of companies, feasibility studies and demonstration projects in energy. And it is to rationalize and optimize spending the entire production system of a large company, an SME or a small restaurant can generate significant economic savings.
How to benefit from what we throw away?
This question has a solution in this department ITCL analyzing the environmental recovery of our production processes but also the increase of value added in what until now was unusable product waste and also generates costs in some cases reduce the environmental impact of production centers. In this line of work this department has several areas of research on the recovery and waste minimization, reuse, sludge treatment, waste water and gas or energy recovery in areas such as biomass and biogas which allows the reuse suproductos generated by the timber industry, forest management and agricultural holdings in the first case and the management of organic waste from farming population in the second. In addition we also work in the life cycle analysis and eco-design, so popular in recent time as branding of many products
Although these terms seem to lead to a chip distant future, robots and science fiction is applicable service aspects as real as the bicycle rental system (BICICARD), automatic irrigation systems parcels or mobility assistance to disabled persons . The application is more real than it appears and multiple services and the future. In fact this team, working on the development of what will be the vehicle of the future, electric. In this sense, work in R&D for the integration of electric vehicles as well as working in the systems development charge these cars with batteries and intelligent networks.
Interconnect services and control of our company creates added value for the cost of production.
ITCL works in this area has three main lines of research.
On the one hand working on the design, simulation and validation of manufacturing electronic boards.
Signal transmission and integration of control elements, applicable to any process of production.
And, secondly, work in the development of mobile controls that allow, among other things, manage vehicle fleet management and establishing savings in logistics management of large enterprises

The scope of care to dependents and normalization of life of people dispacitadas also has a broad scope of work applied to innovation. Br> This department works in the development of electronic products that allow to increase the autonomy of people with disabilities or with certain disabilities.
